Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is 2175 miles of wilderness, forest, hiking and mountainous communities. Last year it took over 6,000 men and women who volunteered more than 200,000 hours of their time to maintain the trail.

The trail forges its way through Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. An extension, the International Appalachian Trail, continues north into Canada and to the end of the range, where it enters the North Atlantic Ocean.

The Appalachian Trail is found in 14 states within the United States of America and extends into Canada where it ends at the North Atlantic Ocean. In each state there are groups who hike, camp, clean the trails and nurture the wilderness. Your group can join in with any of these endeavors.
