Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum

Groups on Lone Star State getaway exploring the scenic gulf coast and all the best of the historic port city of Galveston will want to visit this popular landmark attraction docked at Pier 19, adjacent the Strand Historic District and less than an hour from the world’s petroleum capitol of Houston. Visitors board the retired jackup rig, where they are treated to a video outlining the history of  the offshore oil industry, then encouraged to explore the museum’s three floors of of intriguing scale models and interactive displays further acquainting them to with the business of offshore exploration and production. A casual stroll out onto the skywalk affords a unique “day in the life” perspective as well as a commanding view of Galveston Harbor.
